I run win.m.e.and have been having lots of probs with my comp freezing ,
needing to be restarted all the time programs not responding. I could not run scandisk or defrag, i would always get the message prgrams are still writing to hard disk even when all progs were shut off. I restored windows m e and all of my progs docs pics[1st 2 yrs of my grandson etc]have dissapeared. how can i get them back my photos

Seek pro help from a local *good* (get recommendations, not just go to a superstore) comp service store. There is a good chance the files are there yet unless the restore you did was the evil cd type that wipes everything back to the day the comp was bought.
