I have always had problems with this card. Apparently it is very picky about the drivers it takes...and will not work for just anyone. I installed Windows ME on my PC a while ago (had to reformat to do so) and I haven't been able to get my video card to work ever since. I've been living in a 16 color world! Help! It's driving me mad! I've tried at least 3 versions of the Diamond Viper 330 drivers available on the net. Some even change to 'Nvidia' or "Riva" when I try to install them. Why is that?

Anyway...is there anyone who can help me? I don't even know if the card can work with Windows ME. Which in that case...I'll have to go back down to W98
or something.

Goddess Athena,

Diamond sold out to S3 as I recall, right after developing second-
generation drivers for Windows 98, which was back in 1999 or so. That sucked. While they work fine with Win98SE, I don't know if they work for ME--I have a hunch that they don't.

You might, however, consider looking on the 3DLabs third-party driver site-
-do a search on Google--for something usable.

I have an 8MB 330 PCI version, and it works in everything I've tried (which is everything except ME and XP). I don't know if you have an AGP or a PCI version, but they came in both 4MB and 8MB versions. The 8MB job did not have an available TV out option--it did have fast-ish SGRAM, however, and is a decent card for older machines.

With things so cheap nowadays, I'd consider going to www.newegg.com and grabbing something like an ASUS 7100 for AGP or a Sapphire Radeon 7000 for PCI--both are good and compatible. The ASUS is really cheap, and will cream your 330. The Sapphire ain't bad, either. Both use heatsinks and will last forever.
