My friend and I both bought a nice Lexmark / Unisys laser printer. These
are the Lexmark optra S 1250 units. Or the Unisys UDS 9712 (they are both
the same). Art got the Lexmark branded unit and I got the Unisys branded
unit. Both came with toners (there was no guarentee on the amount of toner
in the cartridge but at least they had something we could use right away).
They came with a printer cable, and a power cable, and were very well
packaged with foam in place.
They each had less than 40,000 pages printed on them and came originally
from the Royal Bank. And best of all they work wonderfully with ECS and
OS/2, Linux, and Windows. They even support the Markvision stuff if you
want. They print 12
pages per min and a resolution of 1200 x 1200 (they run here at 600 x 600 as
I don't need the resolution). They included 4 megs of ram that you can
cheaply expand to 68 megs. (an additional 64 megs is available for about 20
bucks)
And of course the best for last.... The cost including shipping to anywhere
in the continental USA was 195.00 delivered!!
Art and I love these and I thought I would mention it to the OS/2 and Linux
and windows community.
These are great for home office small business people. If you might be
interested in these you can contact me. Otherwise I don't really want to
clutter the newsgroups with a commercialish type ad. But we were both so
pleased with them we thought other users might want to know about them.
