Ian, I don't know where you saw that. In Acrobat 6, the "Compare Documents" option is in the "Document" menu, and is active even when no documents are open.
Thanks Volker - I was very tired last night when I wrote the post, should have gone to bed a lot earlier - Post #1 describes how to find Document Compare in FrameMaker 6+SGML. That's what I was working on - legacy systems all day yesterday - just got totally crossed lines.
Cheers
Ian
Just to add, the Compare Documents is only available in Acrobat 6 Professional.
Jonathan, Wasn't this feature available in the standard Acrobat 5? I think that's all we had installed where I work. Wouldn't you think that an upgrade version would include at least the same features, and hopefully more than the previous version?
Wasn't this feature available in the standard Acrobat 5?
It likely was included in Acrobat 5, (there was no 'standard' Acrobat 5) as it is included in Acrobat 4. For reasons best known by Adobe Corporation, the "Standard" version of 6 DOES NOT have many of the features (i.e., Form Fields, Catalog) which were a regular part of previous versions of Acrobat.
Acrobat 6 Professional is the direct upgrade to Acrobat 5.
Acrobat 6 Standard is a newer version, but a lesser product than Acrobat 5.
There are 2 ways to look at it. Acrobat 6 Standard has many features that Acrobat Approval 5 didn't.
