Hi. Total newbie time. I have been working through the AE 5.5 Classroom in a Book and I am at a point where I am using Myriad for a font within the basic text tool. 2 questions:

1. When I select Myriad the "show font" box becomes grayed out. Is this normal?
2. When I view my text in the Comp window it is not straight, some letters are higher than others. What is going on?

If anyone has the patience to answer I really apprecate it. Thanks.

hey jenn,
make sure that your layer is set "best" quality, and that your comp is being viewed at "full" resolution. to find out more about how to set your layer(s) to best, and your comp to full, check the help docs. sometimes when a text effect is applied, the text itself will appear VERY rough unless those settings are as descrbed. if you have tried these settings and the font still looks like the baseline is shifting per letter, then maybe it's the font (can't remember off hand what myriad looks like) or, perhaps the font itself is corrupt.

thanks -stev=o setting the quality to best lined everything up. I still can't preview using "show font" but that is a minor complaint.

Thanks again.

Is this a multi-master font? They can sometimes cause problems.
