Forvive me if this has been discussed before, but I'm wondering...

I create my AE projects for broadcast using an NTSC 640x480 preset, and nothing gets cropped off.

But under what circumstances would you use any of the other presets? If a TV monitor views a 640x480 image correctly, why would you use a different aspect ratio or overall dimension?

I do, however, have to occasionally import Mini DV footage which is 720x480, but I always scale it proportionally to fit.

Thanks.

Tom,

Pixel aspect ratios are discussed in depth in the Meyer's first book, Creating Motion Graphics. Also a great article over on the Cow by Rick Gerard, called Dr. Strangepixel.

This is an oft disscussed topic here and there are tons of posts in the archives.
