hello everybody,

does anybody know the last samurai trailer at www.apple.com? there are sequences with a red light at the background. how do i make this in after fx ... or is it better to use a 3d programm???

Mike,

You can do something very much like this inside of AE with the Shine plugin from Trapcode. The effect in the trailer looks a bit more complicated than what you get with Shine, it was probably done in Maya or something more complicated than AE, but Shine could get you close if you play around with it.


I would apply the plug to more than one layer to make it do the orangeish flares that are in there.

I took a look at the spot again. There's nothing overly complicated about it that Shine couldn't reproduce. I even guess that they used the "Desert Sun" color preset.
