I still have everything on DV tape (about 100 so far already), that's no problem.

The only problem is that I do lot videoediting on the notebook when i'm not at home (and far away from al my tapes).

I have it connected to an firewire Maxtor HD 200 GB.
On the maxtor, I do have all the DVD's I made over the years so I can easily view them or burn them to DVD if neccesary.

So a lot of times it would be easiest if I could just use a part of one of my DVD (vob files) and change it back to say Microsoft DV (pal) or another codec wich still has good quality en can be used bij AE

Would be a lot quicker than having to wait untill i'm home and have acces to my tapes again.

Buy yourself a little Firewire external hard drive and store your clips as DV or JPEG Quicktimes/AVIs. You will save yourself SOOO much trouble.
