Has anyone found a way to get through to Adobe on this? Darcy suggested some ways and I've not been successful with any of them.
There was an Adobe evangelist around here, but I doubt that he's taken any notice.
An 'evangelist' is someone who talks rather than listens.
I did try emailing Adobe but got an automated reply (e.g., ignored). I also tried emailing the 'evangelist' (Daniel Brown) in another thread on the Photoshop or Premiere forums and was also ignored. He had posted there and I hoped he would check back but if he did, as I said, he ignored me.
I suppose you could call the 800-sales number but I personally hate talking on the phone. Maybe someone more glib than me ... ?
I don't think upgrade programs falls under the evangelist's department, and if you can imagine how busy he must be with his own job at the moment then maybe you can appreciate why he might not be taking up the cause.
If you hate talking on the phone more than you hate the upgrade plan in question then I guess its not all that big a deal afterall.
Just what does a senior evangelist do, anyway? It's gotta be something to do with marketing, and therefore sales, and therefore pricing.
Just a thought. It was passing through, so I thought I'd post it before it fell out the other side of my brain.
Nigel,
If you look around a few of the forums Daniel is on the road doing presentations. In America Marketing and Sales, while close cousins, are seperate. (Hope I picked up correctly that you reside "across the pond"). Daniel's job, I assume, is to go around and get everyone excited about the new products and hope that the demo software that he has loaded doesn't pull a Microsoft and crash on him. (I for one will never forget the look on Bill Gates face when the infamous blue screen came up.)
I totally agree. It's such a BIG pain in the back side.
Perhaps the problem is that they're too busy smelling the moolah? ;-)
I'd rather not wait it out, and lose ground. Has anyone had any real response from Adobe on this? I want a response!!
It's obviously a poor deal for us 'loyal' guys and gals who want to upgrade, but not at such a premium - especially when a new customer can get significantly better discounts.
Yeah, my small studio just got new seats of about $8000 in Adobe software at the start of the year. There's no way we can afford to start fresh just 2 quarters later.
