Well Len, I guess that may have been what happend somewhere along the line, but not intentionally. I have sorted it now by creating a new start up file.

Thanks.

Sarah,

Open your template file. The document color mode is displayed at the top of the frame after the file name and the zoom ratio. Does it say (CMYK/Preview) or (RGB/Preview)?

If it says (RGB/Preview), go to File, Document Color Mode, and check CMYK Color.

Selecting CMYK Color when you start your next new file will set the default to CMYK Color for all new files.

I had a very interesting thing happen today. i had a ill9 file open in rgb. i added some text to the file, saved it and closed it. when i reopened it, i got a message saying that the file contained both rgb and cmyk info. this had me stumped for a while. i didn't get this message when i had created the file and closed and reopened it.

I deleted the text, saved the file and reopened it. no message. when i clicked the text tool, the color sliders changed to cmyk. the color mode for the file was rgb. i changed the sliders from cmyk to rgb, saved the file, closed it and reopened it. no message.

I thought this was some strange behavior.
