ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR WINDOWS 46 IMPLEMENTATION LIMIT EXCEEDED

I worked for a good hour on a native .ai file in AIv9.0 in WinXP, saving often, then closed it and quit the app.

Later when I tried to open it I get:

Can't open the illustration. The illustration exceeds an implementation limit.

Offending operator: '1 1 0 1 Xy []0 d 0 J O 1 w 4 m []0 d o XR /Def ;
(BlendStyle) ,

Beside telling me that I should at least be on 9.0.3 or whatever the upgrade is in v9, can anybody offer a way around this?

I also copied it to a OSX machine and tried opening in AICS, and also to an OS9 machine and tried opening in AIv10, both with the same result.

The file WILL open in Photoshop, so I may resort to rasterizing it all but I would rather not.

Thanks in advance

Hey! could I open a v9 .ai file in Acrobat?

Did you ever get this resolved? I have the same issue.
The file was created by someone else in Illustrator 10 then sent to me - I try to open it up in Illustrator 10 as well.

Thanks Karl
