The machine on which all of my adobe software is installed is not online. How do I downlaod the 3.0.1 patch? I cannot use update manager (and am not sure why I would want to, I like to have the patches available for when I re-install the system, an annual thing under M$ XP).
Me too. I kow it's April the 1st but I thought Adobe were more savvy than this.
Don't blame Adobe - just go to
ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/manifest/indesign/IDCS_Updater_Roman.exe

Blame Adobe???
I am not sure that is the intent, but I am interested in how or what the ftp linked file is. When I rang Adobe tech support this morning, the only suggestion they had was to that I use the forums!!! they did not seem to know of any way to bypass the update 'feature'.
I hope theat this upadte solves the navigator scrolling issues that have still not been solved since ID1.0 (despite various claims)
Martin,
I am sorry you were misinformed this morning, and I will make sure to pass that information along. The update is now posted on InDesign for Window's Main Downloads Page <http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=31&platform=Windows>

Adobe InDesign Support
Jodi,
No, it's not. There's simply a link there that tells you have to use the
update feature.
Bob
Yeah... I just realized that. ooops. Ummm... ignore everything I say except for the part about apologizing. The rest is all lies. :)
Jodi
Jodi you poser! I noticed you removed "Adobe InDesign Support" from your signature. What's up with that? #-o
Anyway, I'm trying to get the update too. I hope someone can fix this.
Ok, just to keep my reputation intact, go look at the download page now!!
That's right... they are live. I was just a teency bit ahead of myself.
Jodi
Adobe InDesign Support for real no lying.
Thanks for updating the download page.
Now that the banter about where and how to get the update has ended, would you be willing to explain why Adobe tried to channel users through the update manager alone? The move seemed odd and raised suspicions. Why was this method employed if Adobe knew that many of its users did not have direct internet access? Perhaps a discussion of Adobe's intent and users' reactions to the manager will help improve the next update deployment.

And thanks for having a sense of humor. It's refreshing. :-)

Used to be Heathkit tech Support and it was very stressful.
Jim,
When people provide new and improved (in their eyes) services, they have a tendency to be blinded by the beauty of this new thing and overlook practical issues.
I think that's all there was to it. The people who came up with this new way of doing things simply didn't subject it to adequate critical analysis because it just seemed the right thing to do.
Let's hope they've learned from this to be a little more circumspect.
It's possible that the recent GoLive CS gave them a false sense of security. GoLive users who are not connected to the Internet must be a very small community.
Dave
Thank you for the fix.
Jodi: Many Thanks for the Fix
Dave: I tend to use GoLive to build data gathering intranet sites for school data collection ... Look no internet! I supply this by CD/RW
