Hi!

My grayscale photos looks much darker (and has more contrast) when i place them in Indesign. Why is this? I can't understand why they change at all..

I use Indesign CS and I have worked with the pictures in Photoshop CS, turned them to grayscale there and saved them as .psd. I use europe prepress defaults as color settings in Photoshop.

I don't want the pictures to print as dark as they appear in Indesign! What shall I do?

Are your color management settings IDENTICAL in ID and PS? They should be if you want consistant color.

Yes, everything under "color settings" in Indesign is the same as in PS..

Are you including a profile in your Photoshop images? What is it? What settings do you have for InDesign color management? We're not going to be able to help without a fair amount of detail.

Do you have Overprint Preview (on the View menu) on or off in InDesign?

Photoshop includes the ICC profile dot gain 15%. The Indesign color settings are the Europe prepress defaults (RGB: adobe RGB1998, CMYK: Euroscale coated v2, preserve embedded profiles, Engine: Adobe (ACE), Intent: Relative Colourimetric, Black point Compensation on).

But NO, i didn't have Overprint Preview on, should I have that? I see the pictures turn lighter when it's on..
