Brad,

As Mac indicated, zoom in close enough to what you wish to select with the Lasso and you'll find that hand eye coordination becomes a lot easier. As you come close to the edge of the zoom window to continue, click and hold down the Space Bar. You'll get the Grab hand which allows you to move the image to see where you wish to continue. When you release the Space Bar you automatically get the Lasso back and it'll be exactly where you stopped it, so you just continue to next place you need to grab and move. When you make the loop you'll have as close to perfect as it can get with ANY tool, if you zoomed in tight enough to both see the object and yet be able to differentiate between object and other part or background. Give that a try.

Brad
Hope I'm allowed to mention this, but Jay Arraich has a great tutorial on making selections on his web site. His method involves painting around things - well, you'll see - which is a whole lot easier than the lassoo, I think, and lets you change things if you make a booboo. I use his method all the time.
