Hello, I am a new user and am trying to create a graphic that is a page that starts with black on the left and fades to complete white on the right.

Then have text on the page that is the reverse, ie: white text on left fading to black text on the right.

Is this possible to do or am I using the wrong software?

First thing to do..keyboard 'D'..this will give black and white. Second click on gradient in toolbar then type of gradient option in toolbar above screen...you'll see one that goes vertically from one shade to the other. Then click on gradient display just beside it. there will be a little arrow in top right corner...click on that then 'reset gradients'. You'll see the black to white option. Click on that. Drag mouse accross the screen vertically from one end to the next. Now click on text tool. Put your text where you want it....select it by holding down ctrl key and clicking on the white text screen in layers palette. Go to toolbar>layer>new fill layer>gradient. Your black to white should still be listed first. Change the angle of the shade and click reverse. Hope i didn't miss any steps...let me know. Oh, this is just one way.

Jodi,

I wracked my brain for quite a while trying to remember those steps! What a struggle, I was so worn out I had to take a nap!

Works like a charm.
