Hi Leen
I was wondering if it would be ok if I e-mailed you some of the wedding photos that I took for you to 'criticise'. :o) I would upload them somewhere, but I don't have anywhere to do so.

Louise: Have you set up a pBase site yet? No charge for a small number of photos. Check out www.pbase.com. Chuck

No problem; I 'm coaching quite some Dutch, German and Belgian pro photographers towards Licentiateship level of the British Institute of Professional Photography. Most important part of this coaching is a print critique. Usually we prefer to do this before an audience of other candidates. this way they can all learn from each other.

Probably Chuck is right: pBase allows others to learn as well. But sometimes I can imagine people prefer not to have their work discussed in public.

So, whatever you all prefer.

This however might be slightly off topic in this forum, although many images can be improved in Elements. Probably, when I do a print critique, other, more skilled in PSE than I am, could tell how to enhance these images in PSE until they are up to standards. This way e will be able to stay within this wonderful forum and we all can learn from both sides.

In Dutch there is a proverb: When one hand washes the other, in the end they will both be clean.

I'm a paying member... for 23$, you get 100Mb for a year. That's a lot of workspace.. :) And on your profile, you get the space your pictures are using.

That's the sad part. I was seriously thinking of buying more space. I can't let the pictures up long enough for every one of my friends to see them.

On Pbase ? No, they considered it, but never really implemented this ruling. Neither does Microsoft. If your Community is inactive for 30 days,
you'll get a warning. All you have to to is log in. That's it!

Community however is shrinking your pictures. If you want to show them in full details, you're better with Pbase.

That's weird. How come Chuck's 4.50pm message was posted before Ray's 4.47pm message?

Ray, 100 MB: that's only 5 or 6 TIFF's from your 10D!!

:-)

I'm a time traveler. This morning, I had breakfast with Cleopatra. The Second. She will be born in 2769 years from now. And later, this evening,
I will teach Visual Basic to Einstein. :)

Ok, I was just kidding. I don't know why, I just know it does this every now and then, I post something, but it will get a certain time to show up,
eventhough I did so several minutes before some other posts.

Rather OT...I just noticed in your Artist picture that you have a "curly thumb"...do you suppose that's what makes you so creative!!! Just on observation! Dorothy

The message I posted about creativeness was concerning Ray's thumb!

Pbase is the best, really the best, so I send him extra $ over the requested amount.

I don't have a web site yet, because pbase is doing the job for me. And I haven't had the time to finish my messy HTML site.

Pbase is customizable, and he is so far above the other album sites, (and I have plenty),that we don't even think about the little extra we send him.

Definatly worth every penny.
You can link immediatly to any picture, everything is spelled out for you, instructions galore. We have several family sites, all worth every penny.

You know what, though. I tried saving one of the images from PBase to see if I could open it in PSE and I couldn't. I could only open it in IE.

Ok, I'm not bothered then, as long as you all can open mine if you need to. What's the best size for me to upload them at?

Well, it depends on your intended use. If you want to let people see a particular details, the bigger the better. But usually, 600x800 will suffice. Pbase offers three choices for every picture (done automatically on their site, nothing to do on your part). Once you click on a picture,
Pbase offers (down under the picture), small, medium, large and original.
Oops.. that makes four.. sorry!

Viewers will pick what's best for them, depending on their connection speed.

If you want me to critique images, I don't need large images. I 'll assume sharpness etc. will be OK; critique is about what's in the image: impact, use of colour, composition, correct lighting, correct posing etc.

I have a very fast cable connection, but others don't.

The only problem that might arise is: I 'm not a native speaker, so sometimes I will probably be abusing the english language. I hope you will excuse me for that.

I can comment on wedding, portrait and landscape. Please don't send me flowers (pun intended) as I'm ignorant about gardening. ;-)

I hope this way I might be able to contribute to this forum in the section I do know something about. I owe you all too much.

Ok, I've created a PBase account and I'm just uploading my images. At what stage are you supposed to add descriptions to each image? Do you do that after you've uploaded them all and clicked on 'Update gallery images'?

It's cool, i've sorted it. :o) I did upload them all, but I've deleted them all, as I'm going to resize them. They were too big to fit the screen as the original size, but too small as medium. I'll upload them all again tomorrow.
