Dave- I'm having the same problem. Yesterday photoshop was working fine! I have deleted the preference file and photoshop still quit after launch. Any other suggestions?

It loads everything then crashes after it loads the brushes.

Now, the brushes load too, but crashes right after the brushes load. I don't understand this! The program was working fine yesterday. Do you have any other suggestions?

Also, I can open ImageReady with no problems! Please help!

Brendie,

Just verify: have you rest your preferences per the procedure in the FAQ's?

If you haven't, reset preferences and see if PS loads; if you have, reinstall PS.

Peace,
Tony

Hi Brendie,

I have just encountered the very same problem you have. I have had PS 7.0 for 5-6 months and all of a sudden it will no longer open properly. I get all the way to brushes and it quits. I have tried to get to the preferences but the Control+Alt+Shift (Windows) suggestion in FAQ is not working. Do you or anyone else have more suggestion? Please let me know if there is a different way to get to preferences to attack this problem.

Thanks.

Martin PS My Adobe Image ready loads and works fine.

If you guys do crtl-alt-shift and you DON'T get the dialog box asking if you want to reset you photoshop settings, you missed it and you DID NOT reset your prefrences. You need to either try again (you need to be fast!) or go and manually delete the prefs file. The location of the file is in the faq. It took me about 5 or 6 tries before I was able to get the dialog box when I was testing that out. You need to press the keys as soon as you double click the PS icon!

Hey Dave,

I just wanted to do a follow up on the help you sent my way. What is the reason for the problem you helped me correct? I have had this version of PS (7.0) on my machine for some time. I also have two earlier versions on as well. Any reason why it picked this particular time to mess up?

Thanks.

Martin

gremlins martin, gremlins. (that's my stock answer meaning: Who knows?) :)

It just happens sometimes. Run a scandisk if you're feeling nervous...

Hey Dave,

I can accept gremlins. I've heard it before and I'm sure I'll hear (and have them) again.

Thanks.
