I've recently seen Kodak brand 650MB ones at K Mart & Big W stores.
Dunno if they're old stock or if Kodak still make them.
I too have encountered your problem when trying to play 700MB burned music CDs in older players...they won't read them.
Grump.
BTW, CD ROMs are fairly cheap nowadays, might be cheaper in the long term to replace them as Kodak CD's aren't cheap.

TDK also still make 650MB data CD_Rs
Every store I've been into, including Harvey Norman, has the TDK 650MBs.

Your problem is twofold. The older players don't like the blue-green dyes used by todays media. The older Silver and Gold (Where are my beloved Kodak discs?) were no problem.

The second problem is write speed. The faster the speed the more problems it seems. If you can take it down to 4X write speed it helps.

Then again, if you have a spare $89 visit Dick Smith's and pick up the BENQ DVD-ROM to play back. There are also brands like 4KUS, Liteon that cost the same. The DVD burners are not much more. The smaller computer stores seem to have those.

Maxell makes 650MB CD-R and CD-RW. They can be purchased at any Wal-Mart or other department store rather cheap. I have used these to record data (music, photos and text) without any problem, however, they are usually less than the 650MB.

Ooops, being in the U$A I responded accordingly before reading that you were in Australia. Anyway, Maxell still makes the 650MB CDs.
