Been told that If I get a mobile phone with bluetooth options
then the laptop can connect to the mobile without any cables
is this true
thanks
yes,
assuming that your pc has bluetooth and you've "paired"
the devices. Depending on your plan, it can be expensive,
and your aren't going to get much more that 14.4k anyway.
GPRS internet seems to work or, although a bit on the expensive
side. I have a pcmcia card with a SIM that connects to the
internet through the mobile network, and it allows me to VPN into work
to read my e-mail, and surf the internet on the train.
Connects at 56k, but I think it is a bit slower than a proper dialup.

You don't need the phone for that - you can bluetooth or infra red link
between computer, phone or laptop, given you have the right hardware and
software on the computers... bluetooth would be a lot faster than IR
