A fund manager is running an investment seminar in Perth next saturday
(19 July).
It starts at 9:30am (doors open, talking at 10am) and is in a CBD
hotel.
There are a couple of interesting speakers who will be there, who will
talk about:
"factors that drive your investment performance, impact of world
events on financial markets, the trade-off between risk and return and
how this affects your
investments, why principles of investing are more important than ever,
the outlook for investment markets".
No doubt the managers will do their best to promote their own funds,
but the speakers they booked are guys I've heard before and it should
be an interesting morning.
Anyone interested in going please email me because I've got to
organise tickets.
NB: I have nothing to do with running this seminar, and have nothing
personally to gain from any of you coming!

Oh really?
Are you "helping out a mate" and is he going to help you out sometime?
He states he is in the financial game. This is from Travis's web site:
An authorised representative of Taylor Financial Planners Pty Ltd ABN 18
080 273. An independent financial planning firm, unrestricted security
dealer's license number 196810
I would suggest there is some vested interest, especially when you need
to email him for tickets rather than someone elses website or email.

I suggest you have not been around long enough to know Travis :)
Trevor S
I agree with Trevor.
Go have a look at the aus.invest FAQ.
If Travis was only interested in lining his own pockets, he would not put in
the effort on that site that he does. Sure he probably gets a bit of
business from aus.invest readers but probably not enough to make worthwhile
the effort he puts in.

The seminar is being run by ING.
I have nothing to gain from this seminar, it is a seminar being put on
by a fund manager whom which I have no business dealings whatsoever.
The speakers are one of ING's economist head honchos and Peter
Thornhill of Motivated Money. The latter is a very interesting guy to
listen to.
I'm not helping out a mate, this is a seminar being put on by ING and
there may well be thousands of people attending including hundreds of
advisers. They've booked the Sheraton Hotel Ballroom, so this is
presumably going to be a large event.
You have to email me, or some other adviser, because ING aren't giving
out tickets to the public directly, advisers have to email them to
RSVP and the tickets are sent to the adviser.
NB: I receive no reward for this, no bonuses from ING, no freebies, no
kudos. I just think Peter Thornhill is an interesting speaker, I've
heard him speak a number of times, but only at seminars that are
closed entry for financial advisers, public seminars like this are
quite a rare event. But, if you want to make silly accusations like
this go right ahead, its a free country.
