Hi,

Does anybody know how easy/difficult it is to open a bank account in the USA from Australia? I receive payment from customers in the USA in US$ and don't want to pay $10 to cash each cheque here. Rather, I could transfer it once the sum has grown to a larger amount.

Thanks,

You can open USD accounts with Australian banks - that might alleviate the problem but I would imaging that the bank would still charge you some kind of fee.
You could use Pay Pal or Pay Mate for payments. They have some fees but they are pretty reasonable last time I looked.
I dunno how hard it is to open a US bank account from here but look on their websites - for the big banks, this is probably a FAQ.

If you get a US bank account, how are you going to deposit the cheques if you have them in your hand in Australia? Wouldn't credit cards be easier?
Or Pay Pal or Pay Mate?
