RE:
Funding Agreement - TransLink® Site Preparation: Golden Gate Bridge,
Highway and Transportation District
As the TransLinkâ program transitions to Phase II, MTC and the transit operators must prepare for region-wide installation of TransLinkâ
equipment. The TransLinkâ Contractor (Motorola, Inc.) is responsible for equipment manufacture and physical installation, and MTC and the participating Bay Area transit operators are responsible for providing conduit for power or data communications lines, pulling cable, and any "public works" construction on operator premises.

MTC and Motorola, Inc./ERG have begun working with the transit operators to define scopes of work for Phase II site preparation. The magnitude of each transit operator's effort will vary, and operators will perform the work with in-house staff or contractors. Site preparation includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:
installation of new electrical and communications circuits;
procurement and installation of network rack(s) and cabinet(s);
modification of offices to accommodate data servers and ticket office terminals; preparation of sites for equipment (e.g., add value machine, wireless data transmission antenna) installation and/or mounting.

Funding agreements between MTC and the Phase II operators will reimburse the transit operators for site preparation work performed on behalf of the TransLinkâ program. The cost for GGBTHD Phase II site preparation is estimated at $30,000. This work includes: installation of servers and/or equipment at bus yards in Santa Rosa and Novato as well as the San Rafael Transit Center; and improvements to existing installations at the San Rafael bus yard and the ferry terminals (as required). We will return to this Committee in the coming months for approval of site preparation funding agreements with the remaining transit operators.

Staff recommends that this Committee authorize the Executive Director or his designee to enter into a funding agreement with GGBHTD in an amount not to exceed $30,000. Funding for this agreement is included in the TransLinkâ capital budget.
