Yeah, well, if there's on thing the American education is supposed to do,
it's teach American children about American history. Most children do indeed manage to memorize all 51 states and most of the presidents. However, American newspapers regularly report depressing statistics about surveys showing Americans can't even place the civil war to within the nearest 50 year period, get it confused with the revolutionary war, etc,
demonstrating that all is not well in the US education system.

Although one can think of intelligence in value-free terms, for example when evaluating the technical competence of the people who worked to give the mass-murderer Stalin the hydrogen bomb, it really doesn't take much intelligence to abuse trust and make the world a colder place.

What those who destroyed the World Trade Center towers did was evil; so abominably and monstrously evil that to give the devils responsible even their due is in poor taste for the time being. Those attackers chose,
wilfully, and without cause, to cut off thousands of innocent lives in their prime and bring a tremendous grief to thousands of families.

This will never be forgotten.

There is no question of anything in United States foreign policy being considered as anything worse than imperfect; there is no comparison, no "moral equivalency" possible. America represents freedom and democracy;
because of its great power, it dare not risk falling into tyranny, so it must maintain a political system with distributed power that prevents dealing as expeditiously as one might wish with such matters as racial inequality.

The American people, and everyone else in the civilized world that cares about the lives and well-being of peaceful hard-working innocent law-abiding people, have been awakened by the events of September 11,
2001. Terrorists should realize that it is now GAME OVER for that kind of tactic, and those that do not will be defeated. (It is astonishing that there are still some democratic countries where an overwhelming public sympathy has not brought about total solidarity with Israel on the part of their governments, but this should not take much longer.)

The Islamic world will cease to be a breeding ground for terrorism.
Children growing up there will be taught tolerance, and the notion that inequality before the law of Muslim and non-Muslim is right and proper will be cast down and ridiculed, from one end of the Islamic world to the other before this is over. No longer will people in that part of the world be afraid of violence against them if they convert to another religion, as they are now in many countries there.

From British, French, and U.S. side.

Soviet Union... they "defended" themselves against Poland, Czechoslovakia,
Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria at the end of that war, and they "defended"
themselves against half of Poland at the start.

So although they were defending themselves *part* of the time, they were stupid aggressors at other times.

Possibly, if the definition of normal is supporting a Prime Minister whose Governemnt locks ileagel immigrants in concentration camps, gleefuly joins an ileagle war against the wishes of the majority and manages to divide a nation. At a time when the incompetence of the opposition seems tanatamount, I am not suprised he is popular. As an aside, I don't think he is "evil" per se, I think it is systemic of a system that produces heartless pepole such as yourself, Howard, binLaden at al, and others filled with hate and vitrole. Where the system went wrong I do not know, finding out and repairing it are of vital importance to the futire of the nation and the World, so that hopefully it can be changed to stop this happening in the future.

Bullshit. The majority of the Australian Army, never a huge Army, was in North Africa. Remember? Rommel??

Mopping up action against unsupplied troops. Valuable work, much needed, but not what I would call winning the war without the Americans.

Shortened the war. Russia did not declare war against Japan until August,
1945. Without the Americans in the Pacific, and with Russia fighting the Germans, Australia would have been a Japanese province by 1945. Considering the treatment of the Chinese by the Japanese as a model, there would have been few, if any Caucasion citizens left alive in Australian by 1945.

You, Sir, are a fucking idiot with no knowledge of the time.

Not to mention the tremendous difficulty of transferring their Army across Siberia with only one railroad line. At the end of the war, Japan still had a million troops in Northern China along the Russian border.

2. In America, he has used the proper spelling of "color"
We do not use the extraneous "u". ( One of the few places where English (The language, not the nationality ) spelling makes a bit of sense.)

It was part of the secret protocol attached to the Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact.

"The secret protocol held an agreement between the Nazis and Soviets that greatly affected Eastern Europe. For the Soviets for agreeing to not join the possible future war, Germany was giving the Soviets the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania). Poland was also to be divided between the two - along the Narew, Vistula, and San rivers."

Dear Corks, perhaps you're counting the District of Columbia as a state of the USA.
Or do you count Iraq as the 51st state?
Or perhaps you're harking back to the state of Jefferson, which some people have said should be created from northern California and southern Oregon.

Gerry, there is just one hell of a lot that you don't know. Look up the German-Soviet non-aggression pact. ( late 1930.) You can read a bit of history and find out when Hitler and Stalin divided Poland among themselves.
That is, if you have any desire whatsoever to know history.

As an American, I wouldn't mind knowing his insight into the future, either. (
But I would bet money he meant Washington, D.C. as a State, which it is not. )

There is also a movement to divide California into THREE states, and not include

Well, you could ask how many States are in Australia or Germany; how many Provinces in Canada or Cantons in Switzerland. :-)
