The separate thread about Magic 693 and 4BH has been interesting but it prompted me to wonder why a Melbourne station does not have the 4KQ "classic hits" format? If Magic 693 is 60s and 70s mostly, then 4KQ would be a similar "sound" but more 80s and 90s?
For this 52 year old, I would find a 4KQ format in Melbourne a good complement to Magic 693. Perhaps I've gone a bit soft but I do find Gold 104
a bit "heavy" these days.
Is it just a case of a format working in one city but not in another; i.e.
would Gold 104 work in Brisbane and would 4KQ work in Melbourne?
Paul in Melbourne PS: When I am looking for a talk format in Melbourne, I generally choose 3AW at breakfast Mondays to Fridays and Newsradio at other times.

Mix is an 80's and 90's (and sometimes today) station. But then it doesn't go further back.

Matthew I was thinking of something more in between Magic 693 and Mix 101.1 FM; do you feel Mix 101.1 is a similar format to 4KQ?

Well, 936 is Hobart's only talk station - it doesn't have a 3AW going up against it (ok, although their website doesn't say so, I suspect Magic 107 is taking Laws between 9am-12pm, but anyone after serious current affairs would listen to the ABC).

Paul.

I've never heard 4KQ so I can't say :-). I just thought it might be similar to what you're looking for.
