No longer must Ballarat people listen to programs designed for central
Victoria on FM and western Vic on AM. Now they can listen to programs for
western Victoria on FM too ;-)
On a more constructive note, Ballarat now gets it's own ABC breakfast show.
And the ABC are employing ten more people in the region, and there's more
western Victorian output being produced.
I'm guessing Geelong people will now have the option of listening to most of
3LO's output on FM now too.

Just a pity that country people miss out on Jon Faine's show (other than the
boring Conversation Hour). It's considerably better than the regional morning
offerings (and gets better interviews, too).
The ABC would do better to network the first hour and a half of Faine's
show to the entire state, and then let the local programs kick in after that.
Paul.

A fair portion of western, central and northern Victoria would be able to
pick up 3LO fairly clearly, wouldn't they? The map at
http://www2b.abc.net.au/reception/frequencyfinder/asp/details.asp?transmissionid=902
shows the adequate coverage extending past Horsham in the west and north to
Mildura and Griffith (NSW).
As a side note, check out the coverage map for ABC Mildura. Seems Victoria
has been renamed...
Cheers,
Mike

You cannot get 3LO in Mildura on a sensitive normal-type radio, during the
day anyway. I'm sure that map is exadurated somewhat. The only ABC services
you can get in Mildura are the Mildura and the AM Renmark ones.

I doubt they will - the region doesn't have a big enough population to
warrant a separate ABC station for them. I'd expect Wangaratta to get
its own studio before the High Country areas ever do...

I think ABC Goulburn-Murray has studios in both Albury and Shepparton,
doesn't it?
Cheers,
Paul.

What about Geelong? Lots more people than Bendigo, and *no* local ABC
coverage.
