I fail to understand why people like you, Adam, fail to grasp subtlety of
wit and sarcasm...

Yes, he should be more competitive. I don't know exactly why he isn't at
his best ATM. He does lead, and he is a player that should stand in the
goal square ready to either mark or shepherd. His stamina isn't what it
should be, and that's probably due to the rotation with Snake.

Compared to who? We have a very pacy team and he isn't in the top 5, 10, or
20. Yet those other players can't do what Justin can- stand in the goal
square and consistantly take the grab. You might as well criticise McManus
for his inaccurate ability, instead of praising him for his hardness and
abiltiy to win the ball.
In the end it doesn't matter- you're not a Longmuir fan, and no one is going
to change that.

A wise man (well, woman) told me "if it bleeds, it can be killed" (she
watches *way* too many movies).
The difference this year for Brisbane is that they have better competition
to play against than last year, plus more injuries than their "injury free"
'02 season.
For Freo, they have usually played better 1st 3rd and 4th quarters, and as
you say aren't "laying down to die". A defining moment in the game was Des
Headland, after allegedly being punched in the norries, kicking a goal and
proudly showing of his colours. He always wanted to be drafted by Freo, and
now he feels he is where he belongs, at home and with his club.
This is something many Port contibuters have been saying on this ng about
their club- a sense of tradition. And now Freo has crossed the barrier of
the original Fremantle FC plus South and East Freo to the current FFC. No
matter what some clowns think of our players and structure and even the
colours, the reality is that the current group feels privilaged to play for
Fremantle FC. Myself, I feel very privilaged to have shaken Dale Kickett's
hand after the game. He is a legend of the club, and whoever wears the No
11 jumper should also feel privilaged. Certainly Des does.
Back to the game- Chris said right from the begining of his tenner that he
wanted to turn the club towards the playing group being able to improve as
well as each induvidual improving. Even if we don't make the finals this
year, induviduals as well as the playing group can reflect on an overall
inprovement. As a bonus, playing for tradition, and the members who have
stuck by the club even in the darkest of moments, has instilled a mental
strength within the playing group.
