Some of our more rabid readers (and self-appointed netcops) would tell you that you'd be spamming the group.

Others of us are of the opinion that if you're willing to ship to Austin then there's no reason for you not to post -- as long as you aren't posting sale notices on behalf of a commercial enterprise.

such as flebay, which you have already done....

so let's get this straight, even though the charter states one thing,
you are saying as long as someone is willing to ship here, it is ok.

so then you are saying that any ebay moron or anyone, anywhere, since they ship anyway, can, with your permission, spam our group with off topic, as per newsgroup's charter?

hmm...novel thought process....

Absolutely not. It's against the charter and you'll get *tons* of complaints to eBay (if applicable) and your ISP.

That opens up austin.forsale to every moron in the country. You just jack up the sales price to cover the cost of shipping.

Face It - It's a terrible idea. Part of the, uh... charm of a.f. is that you can see an item before you commit to it, and have it within hours, as well as physical remedies if something is wrong with the sale.

Sure, Dave, if you are willing to pay shipping to send the object to Austin so that I can look at it and try it out before I commit to buying it. Then, if I don't want it, pay for someone to ship it back to you.

Otherwise,...NO!
