Did you know that making shovels (among many other things) was illegal in the American Colonies under English law? You wanted to force us to buy finished goods only from you. The American Revolution actually started when we began forging our own steel tools in defiance of the law.

The industrial revolution was also the beginning of your undoing. Once it crossed the Atlantic, we no longer needed you. You English were just an unnecessary middle man to be cut out of the equation. We kept our raw materials to make our own finished goods in our own factories. Once the rest of your colonies started doing the same, your empire's days were numbered.
