marine layer has spread low clouds into the delta and out through the valley and up into the foothills this morning. forecast was updated to account for low clouds in srn lake county. thunderstorms possible in the north and in the sierra and foothills this afternoon with a very unstable atmosphere. bufkit sounding for rdd has lis around -5 and cape around 1200 and pw 0.97 at 5 pm tonight. eta has the peak cape around 1600 j/kg and pw around 0.5 inches north of rdd. a weak short wave will also move through the area this afternoon and evening to help kick off some thunderstorms. the weak split system is still forecast to possibly bring a little light rain to the area friday through friday night. most of the energy is to the north and south and the dynamics are fairly weak with maximum omega around -3 with the avn. pw are 0.5-0.75 inches on the avn and the eta. ridge starts building and subsidence over the whole area by saturday afternoon and should continue through monday afternoon. then another trough approaches the area on tuesday morning to bring a chance of rain tuesday and possibly lingering showers on wednesday. mrf keeps zonal flow with several shortwaves moving through for another chance of precipitation on thursday. hs
