NZ GENERAL 11 HELP REQUESTED IN FINDING DANGEROUS HELENSVILLE AREA DRIVER
From: Dan Santoro (rugbydan@no-spam)

Hello everyone. I realize that crossposting is a no-no, but please bear with me as I try to rid NZ of an extremely dangerous driver who nearly cost 3 lives (inc. myself).

On Weds night June 4 I was traveling on Route 16 from Auckland airport thru Helensville and on to the South Head harbor area when I began being followed closely and harassed by a white mid 1990's auto (possibly Honda or Nissan) with the license
R O S K 0 (zero)

This car followed me for approx. 25 km from Kumeu onto the roundabout at Helensville and then into the South Head area.
When I attempted an evasive turn and started heading back towards the roundabout area for help, I was run off the road to the right, into the path of an on coming car of 2
pensioneers.

"Roscoe" slowed to look at the accident and then took off never to be seen again. The elderly couple was taken to auckland Hospital where the husband had facial/neck cuts and the wife suffered internal injuries. I bruised my sternum,
but was able to get to a phone for help. Fortunately, we have all survived, but the couple is now without a car and the wife is at home convalescing.

If anyone has any information on who this clown in ROSK0
is/was or the collision's aftermath, please contact me directly thru my above e-mail or Constable Chris Jujnovich of the NZ Police/Helensville barracks at 0-9-420-8967.

Thank you much........

Dan in Florida USA

go to a post shop and get a "Change of Ownership" form, register ROSC0 in your name then go "re-posess" it :-)

I live out South Head and have seen that number plate several times.
If you can't find who is (ir)responsible for it, I might be able to ask around.

Surely the relevant NZ authorities can easily do a computer look-up on the above details to find who it's registered to.....?

Yes they can, how else would speed camera tickets get to the car owner?

Somebodys trolling for something.

<snip>

The Police investigate all injury accidents.
A simple QVR will give them the registered owner's details.

It costs $25 to findout who the resistered owner of a car is, all you need is the Number plate.

Im assuming that it would be even easier with a personalised plate such as ROSK0

In Wellington several years ago there was a white Holden Ute that the police were looking for that didn't exist as far as the system was concerned.

Actually, I remember who that plate belongs to -- and I find it hard to believe they'd act in an irresponsible manner. I've known them for 12 years and they're straight as a die.

No, I'm not telling. The cops will have no problem identifying the owner, in fact it's quite likely they won't even need to use the computer, the owner is well known in the district.

His/her car wasnt stolen and taken for a joy ride at the time? The possibilities are endless, and your defaming of this person wont do anything except insight more 'road rage' in the case of a nutter seeing this car.

I do agree with your words to a point.........put yourself in my driver's seat that night and then mull it over.......I'd much rather be talking about touring the Northlands (as I'd planned) for 3 days......

No it costs $2.25 at any LTSA Agent, the form you ask for is "MR31".

Surely this ROSK0 driver would be the ideal target for your cruise missile, Mr Simpson.

Why, I've always found him to be a jolly nice and quite sensible chap -- which makes it strange that someone reports his care being involved or contributing to an accident.

Still, we don't have all the facts do we so it's unwise to judge.

No Rich, I think you read the post wrong.........he followed (i.e.
tailgated/harassed me) 25 km + from Rt 16 onto the South Head Rd when I was able to
pull a U turn to get back toward Helensville and was forced into the oncoming lane....

How does someone force you in to oncoming traffic? Weren't you in full control of your vehicle?

Which is exactly why so many people are flaming you. You main purpose of posting here seems to be to get people to harm ROSK0 or perhaps his car or at least harrass him. However, all we have is your word that what you claimed happened, happened. We don't know who you are. Your crossposted to many irreleant groups even though you know you're not supposed to (a supposed important situation doesn't change this). You claim to be Dan in Florida but we have no way of verifying that. You apparently hang out at some Rugby newsgroup but that's all we know about you. However, ROSK0 is appearantly known by some people on this group, none who seem to think he is likely to have done what you said he did.

So in all likelehood, what really happanened was you tailgated him and then when he did something to stop you, you ran off the road and had an accident. In fact, for all we know, none of this happened and you just had some other problems with ROSK0. Perhaps he 'held you up' at a red traffic light when you were rushing to the airport.

Perhaps this is not the case, but there is no way we can no way we can know for sure. We could try to contact the inspector you mentioned to at least make sure you have reported something of this sort. But this of course, will do nothing to ease our fears you were just lying to him.

Given this, we can be forgiven for getting annoyed, even angry at you for your attempts to cause problems for someone who is very likely innocent.

If you want to increase our confidence, you should at the very least.

Give us your full name, address and phone number.
Give us the contacts of a few people you know, preferbly in NZ, who will vouch for you (with their permission, and they should know what are referring to).
Give us the information of the car you were driving at the time.

There are other things you probably should do which I can't think of at the moment.

Of course, it could be understood if you do not want to reveal these detail publicly on usenet. In this case, ask whether a few trusted regulars are willing to help and e-mail them to these people (not me,
I'm not trusted, or a regular or willing to help).

On the other hand, if your sole purpose of coming here is just to tell everyone to inform the police if they have any problems with ROSK0,
you should
1) Make this clear in the post. Specifically say something like "I understand you only have my word for this, that's why all I want you to do is to be aware and to report any ill dealings you have with ROSK0. I am not asking you to form opinions of ROSK0. Please DO NOT make things up or harass or otherwise disturb ROSK0 as this will not help the case but make things worse."

2) DO NOT cross post to irrelevant groups.

This may seem extreme to you but unless you do things properly, no one with a bit of sense is going to trust you. We have had enough jealous/angry boyfriends/girlfriends, co-workers, neighbours, former employees etc making lies up about people and try to damage their reputation and cause physical or emotional damage.

You weren't forced to do any such thing. You chose to. Another, safer, option would have been to pull over and let the tailgater pass. Which is actually what is recommended.

I would suggest your panic caused the accident.

FWIW.... You've jogged my memmory! I've watched in astonishment at 'ROSK0'
(white car) doing some weird not very courteous things coming off the Westgate/KFC roundabout onto the highway 16 in the form of cutting off merging vehicles... the roundabout is two-lane and usually the "Merge Like a Zipper" (roadcode) in into the highway would apply with most vehicles doing it... Perhaps someone other than the local gent and owner of ROSK0 mentioned has been using the vehicle and is unfamiliar with.

Were you there? Probably not I'd wager. I would suggest your unfounded supposition is nothing more than a brain fart.

Don, If this is on the level, then thanks, If I ever see a ROSKO plate I'll be sure to give the vehicle its on plenty of room. If its not then you've got problems, to say the least.

At the point of impact, I was coming up a hill and they were on the other side of said hill......never saw
each other till the crash..........re charging ROSK0, since all the police have is my word, they consider
that circumstantial evidence.......the cop and a volunteer fireman on the scene both said that they 've seen
said car in the Helensville area and it matched my brief description.....
