Fee trade in the modern context means you can ANY cheap shit made in China
you care to choose.
Here's how China business works:
1. You can't operate directly. You need a local "partner". The local
partner must own at minimum of 60% of the business.
2. You need to provide the capital and the training.
3. You may be able to sell your goods in China.....maybe.
Effects:
1. You put your workers back home out of work. In 5 years, no one back home
will know how to make what you used to make there.
2. You've just created your largest competitor...as the company in China who
now makes almost all your stuff is 60% owned by someone else.
Example:
New Balance shoes.
Their Chinese "partner" started selling New Balance shoes for US$20
worldwide....undercutting your usual distribution chain. They also sold the
same shoes under a *different* name...at first in China, then around the
world.
"Choice"? Sure...you can buy the same shoe under any number of different
brand names.....

From which shows? Cold Feet was okay in the first season but I think it
quickly went down hill. The Bill was great for years but is just another
crap soap now.
I cant really think of any other recent British shows I'd watch.

Word. Writers on ABC dramas usually get one more draft than commercials, but
if you look at the gulf between top shelf TV drama like the Sopranos and
what we see produced locally, there is still a long way to go.

In the case of the television industry, Free Trade means Free Choice for
the rich cunts like Kerry Packer.
If the local content rules were abolished, there'd be no Australian
television industry on the commercial networks. Why would they bother,
when it's cheaper to just buy American remainder stock?
