JOB SCOPE/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Project Manager of Commercial Services works within the PDS Business or
Commercial Unit. Project Managers;
· Provide product development and commercial services to biotechnology and
pharmaceutical clients
· Oversee Client Services for specific accounts and
· Report directly to the Development or Commercial Manager
· Manage the entire project until completion with many interfaces and pitfalls
along the way.

Key Job Challenges: A job challenge faced by the incumbent(s) is to act as the
primary liaison between CRO and the client company. The incumbent is faced with
handling multiple projects at the same time regularly. The incumbent must
ensure that work completed is billed correctly and the must manage the project
budget. The incumbent is responsible for helping manage monthly billings and
budget reconciliation’s for all projects. There is some negotiations required
in terms of project scope, revised pricing, standard reference pricing. A
key challenge for the individual in this position is selling to the client
under some resistance why the project may cost more that initially estimated.

Authority Levels: The Project Manager has the authority to make commitments on
behalf of the team to the client. They also have the authority to assign
duties to team members.. The incumbent is responsible for managing all project
changes. Th incumbent has the authority to manage the project budget.
Functional Guidance: Assistance is available from the Human Resources team as
well as the Senior Manager of Product Development Services.
Specific Duties:
· Manage day-to-day logistical issues related to client projects.
· Act as the primary liaison between CRO and the client company.
· Coordinate, plan and implement all deliverable project activities,
documentation, scheduling, communication (teleconference, face-to-face
meetings, etc.)
· Assist in the preparation of project proposals and budgets.
· Manage monthly billings and budget reconciliations for all projects.
· Coordinate client visits & audits.
· Update internal scheduling systems and prepare/present project timeliness.
· Attend various sales meetings, functions and trade shows.
· Prepare various business reports for Development or Commercial Services
Manager.
· 10% of time is spent interacting with the client.
· 50% time is spent performing logistical tasks such as sending out alert
notices for meeting timeliness, ordering materials, scheduling manufacturing
(eg. Trial runs), follwing up on distribution and warehousing issues.
· 10% of time is spent performing administration tasks such as setting up
meeting, minutes, arranging client visits, updating timeliness.
· 10% of work involves client troublshooting activities such as ansering
questions etc. The incumbent must be technically sound in formulation,
tableting, encapsulation, coating, semi and solid forms, tablet compression
principles and have a good understanding of the manufacturing pilot plant
interface. The incumbent must answer questions in which queries must be made
to various scientific areas (typically non-revenue generating questions) . The
incumbent must handle client calls regularly as to status of project, time
commitments, and change of scope issues.
· 20% of the incumbents time is spend performing Business related tasks such as
ensuring work completed is billed accordingly, managing the project budget,
managing all change of project
Important to note, this positon is is project only, not looking for senior
candidates that have managed project managers just actual projects. Client
interface experience is key to this position.
