I am looking for a servicable commuter bike. Something inexpensive to
replace what I currently ride - a Raliegh Tarantula (with a worn out drive
train).
I don't need anything pretty or fancy - just functional - and I don't want
to spend more than $100. I also don't want the ultra cheap department store
bikes either - they just break on my in a month.

Well for $100 don't expect anything more than a Walmart or Canadian Tire
bike :)
Have you priced half decent components lately? That will eat your $100.
