It will actually backfire on them cause most users will just block any future messages from the sender.

Just click on Message, then Block Sender. You shall never see them again.

What about people who post items under multiple names? Ther eis someone who posts as "The Chris" "Christine""A christiane" ".For Sale"".A Chris" and a bunch of other aliases.

Then people who have been trying to sell the same JUNK for ages but then get a new address, thinking that they may finally sell it. Get over it - no on wants your used clothes!!! I realize this is a for sale group but be reasonable. If you post weekly for months and don't sell it here, maybe you need to think of other options.

the one problem with date tampering is nobody know how long it has been there and if it is still available ....i just don't waste my time with them anymore.

Can't the newsgroup administrator just automate the system to reject faulty dates? i.e. compare the current date with the senders date and if it's out of synch by more than a few hours, just reject it?!!
