It was a place where people were treated equally and respected others rights. Now it is quite different, back in the 70's when the non-smoking movement was starting I believed that smokers including myself should respect the non-smokers and offer an environment to which they could enjoy a night out without our "smoke bothering them, I fought for equality for non-smokers and now our smoking habits are being banned from all public places, what happened to equality? we have passed law after law that have taken the rights from the Citizens of this once great country, smoking being only one of them. municipalities now have the power to discriminate even further, how long will it be before we start banning coffee, bbq's the consumption of alcohol because some group believes it is a health or safety risk, these powers have the potential to legalize racism in the future as we slowly erode the rights of law abiding citizens.

I really don't like the potential consequences of this "The judge ruled that the city has the authority to define the classes of people or businesses who will be the subject of discrimination." this is the basis for segregation aswell as discrimination.

"This bylaw does discriminate but the discrimination is legal," the judge wrote in a three-page decision.

"The judge ruled that the city has the authority to define the classes of people or businesses who will be the subject of discrimination."

"The Municipal Act gives the city the authority to regulate or prohibit tobacco use. A new section of the act specifies that while city bylaws can deal differently with persons or businesses, they can only do it if they're different classes of persons or businesses"

I believe in freedom I don't believe in discrimination or violation of peoples rights, if you believe in freedom, if your a veteran or have been discriminated against, don't vacation in Canada, don't support a country that can take a persons rights away from them.. I fought for peoples rights for 30 years now instead of getting better we have been loosing and more discrimination is taking place.
