Buy it used, there are lots available most of the time. That way when you
trade up (and most V-Star 650 owners seem to) someone else will have been
hit by the first year depreciation. There's nothing wrong with these bikes,
they just don't have much get up and go at speeds over 80 km/h.

definitely the Classic.
These bikes can easily be modified with a jet kit and exhaust to to ride
with anything out there.

Heard great things about it, lots of after market parts available as well.
Only negative I've heard is low torque.
If you're looking for a shaft drive, you may wish to look at the Suzuki
Volusia. Great bike, heavier than the VStar 650, seat height is a bit
higher but overall, great bike !!!
