An issue of sematics....
It is indeed "violent" if we understand that word in terms of the
amount of damage or injury that is done.... the act causing the damage
may not be loud or bloody or "violent" in the sense of how we use the
world to rate movies, but the damage and injury done are such that it
is indeed a form of violence done to the child. Think of rape.... the
woman may passively endure, not fight back, but it is still an act of
violence. Any genital behaviors with children (or other vulnerable
groups) is by definition a violent act against them.
Think of the words related to violence-- i.e. to violate someone is a
violant act......
