try for news:

netnews.comcast.net
try for mail
mail.comcast.net
Also, you should have received a letter a few weeks ago from them.
The letter detailed your new username.

The big significance of the letter was a placement of a period in the username.

When I fired up the "transition wizard" this morning, the wizard did not add the period to the username in the OE windows. I manually went into OE, Tools, accounts and made the changes, and it worked.

Good luck!

Change your outgoing server to smtp.comcast.net
They seem to have different incoming and outgoing servers:

Incoming (POP3) - mail.comcast.net Outgoing (STMP) - smtp.comcast.net
I went through a huge hassle getting them to tell me this, I use Linux for my email machine.

Their site specifically states that their 'wizard of odds' only reconfigures Outlook EXPRESS. What isn't obvious, but is lurking there under 'unsupported e-mail clients', are instructions for various flavors of OUTLOOK, including XP (2002):

Incoming (POP3) - mail.comcast.net Outgoing (STMP) - smtp.comcast.net
When you do get it configured, stand back! If your previous settings called for leaving all messages on the server until you empty your 'deleted'
folder, you will get one or two extra copies of every message still residing there!

Odd, the first time I tried to post using the old server, I got back an email message. It directed me to the web page with the info.
