Did God tell Bush to send troops to Liberia?

Actually, from what I have read, the "Leader" of Liberia won't leave till a "Peacekeeping" force is in place.

Reason being, he's afraid mass civil unrest (Read celebrations)
would run rampant though the country.

Untill what? the 1980's? we were on good terms with this country.
Now with all the coups, it's a country which really could use a bit of help.

But, that's my opnion of course. :)

They'll send in Marines, and it's the Marines' job. That's what they do. If they don't have someplace to go and somebody to kill, they get bored. The ones who just want their GI Bill join the army, the navy or the hair force.
The ones that don't mind going overseas and shooting the shit out of stuff join the Marines.

People who don't want to see the elephant don't join the Marines.

Baxter, you're completely clueless. You should just keep quiet about military matters because you have no understanding of them.

The only shortage of Marines there is is because of assholes like Clinton and Dick Cheney, who gutted their funding. In my day they were practically begging people to leave and letting them out early so that they wouldn't have to let Marines go who really wanted to be there.

Some navy folks who do extended patrols in subs or on in CVBGs might be real surprised that they don't go overseas.

Where did I say we didn't have plenty of troops for the job, liar?

We have Marine expeditionary forces; active duty types who either consume tax dollars in the field or consume tax dollars in training exercises.

It should be a UN issue, led by US Marines.

I agree for the most part (the army rangers I've known would eagerly want to be included too), but the decisions and plans are made at a level in the Pentagon where all branches demand a piece of the pie, so it always ends up in some manner divvied up amongst them.

Which is well and usually necessary. The boat drivers are needed to take the Marines to the action and the Air Force has the best strike fighters and recon hardware.

We really do have the finest combined military in the history of the world.
I was in in 1987-1990--no action--and when I look at what these folks have today by comparison, I'm jealous.

In contrast, I've been re-reading about the 4th Texas (Confederate) regiment again. They often had nothing but fighting orders and ammunition. Those men had to be some of the toughest fighters ever. There's a chapter about how they left a blood trail miles long in the snow returning to Richmond one winter from where their bare feet had frozen and cracked open. When they got to Richmond they licked their wounds and then immediately ran out onto the frozen James River for a regimental snowball fight that left dozens of them wounded.

From what I understand, Bush is going over there to restart the slave trade. He's sampling different countries to see where the healthy blacks are, then the marines are going to go in and shackle them, and then the navy is going to swing by and pick up the savages for export.

Wow, the thread subject is right on the ball: Nonsense. It's a shame what you admit to "understanding."

Let's see, my senior staff sgt was from Jamaica, the company sgt was black,
as was Top and most of the other company sergeants.

Demographically, I'd say that whites are a minority, particularly in the Marines except of course for the officers who are generally upper-middle-class white (of course.)
