hi!

I am testing postgreSQL 8.0 rc1 compiled with xlc on AIX5.2.

I'm trying to create an index on a 4 500 000 raws table and postmaster recieves signal 4.

what can I do to resolve it?

Thanks

On my system signal 4 is SIGILL (Illegal instruction), maybe you're triggering a compiler error. Can you run the backend under gdb or get a core file to see where it's dying. Trying it compiled with gcc would be a good test too...
