They are *dramatically* different in style, temperment and strategy.
Rendell doesn't have a rogue, out of control, brother by the name
of Milton. Street has no real, out of the box, plan to do tax
reform(badly needed) in the city. At least Rendell tried. Street,
with his indebtedness to local unions, has allowed the convention
center mess to fester. The neighborhood initiative to re-build
our "bombed out" neighborhoods, which everyone
should support, seems at a stand-still. Why? I haven't read
anything about it in months.
And just on a personal level I used to see Street all the time,
before he was elected, at the Whole Foods at 20th and Callowhill.
He never spoke to anyone. Never tried. Never acknowledged
anyone. Yes, I have heard he is shy but here's a guy who
has spent his life in public service and he made no effort
to act like he really likes the public. I see what he does now
as for cameras only. In other words it's pure bunkum.
Rendell, I saw often, while he was teaching a class at Penn.
This was before the governor's race. He was approachable
and friendly and acted like he listened when you talked to
him. He made you care about him thus making vastly different
than Street.

Rendell did that for the sake of party unity. I can see the point of that.
He also did it because Street, while City Council president, helped
the Rendell administration.
I think it's very telling that Street's former best friend, Carl
Singley, is now supporting Katz. Now what brought that on, I wonder?

What's wrong with being a moderate to semi-conservative Democrat?
I'm not a *socialist* and too many people confuse
being a Democrat with socialistic ideas.
And I have stated over and over and over and over that I DESPISE
white racist southern Republicans who have taken over the
Republican Party. How in the world you think I could
stomach being a part of that bunch is unbelievable!
