Today's NY Times reported that the NYC school district has
sold its Brooklyn Livingston Street administration building
for redevelopment as a condo.
The Philadelphia school system is also selling its administration
building at 21st & Parkway, also for condos.
Officials of both systems say the sale of the buildings will
revitalize school administration.
I think that's garbage. I don't know about the NYC building,
but the Phila building was beautiful and a good place to work.
Nothing about the building interfered with school administration
contrary to their claims.
I wonder if these building sales are cost effective. The
personnel has to work somewhere, and moving is costly and
disruptive.
The Philadelphia building has dignity and class, and I think
that's a positive influence.
