Someone has to have seen items like these before! I'm looking for a general timeframe and to get a sense of their value. I've come up empty everywhere I've looked. I can't even find similar items. I don't know if that makes these really RARE or just worthless.

I am trying to find out exactly how old these bottle stoppers are.
They are both stamped "Made in Germany" on the corks so I assume they are pre-WW2, but they could be older. My assumption is based on the fact that they are labled "Germany" and not "East Germany" or "West Germany" and that they are not new because no-one would have made characters that look like these post unification.

Both also have the additional identifying mark "Foreign" stamped into the ceramics. Any additional information would be great. I've seen a couple of "Black" Americana pieces that are similar to the one piece,
but I have seen nothing like the "Hilter-esque" guy. Does anyone have an idea of their value?

Any help would be appreciated.

NO appraisals or values given here, because there IS no "one"
value to an item. An item is worth only what someone will pay you at a particular time and place.

As for what you have: you can see them here:

A little research, and you'll be able to get in touch with this collector, who can answer your questions.

Kris,
I'm afraid I read the FAQs after the fact regarding asking for valuations. I wasn't really looking for a dollar figure I was really looking to get a sense of whether or not these items had any value to them in a general sense.

But... having said that, you are awesome. I can't tell you how many hours and google searches I conducted looking for anything on these stoppers. Your help just made my day!

Thank you.

You're welcome, Jeremy.

It was easy, actually -- I went to google and entered:

"bottle stoppers" hitler

Now I'M embarassed! I tried "bottle stoppers german"; corks; black americana, etc. etc. etc.

Simple is usually best. I was focusing on the afrocentric character thinking it might have some interest as a collectible item.

Thank you again.
