I recently purchased an old wicker & leather trunk at an antique store
we visited a few days ago. I purchased it because I have never seen
before a steamer trunk with a wicker insert. I am curious if any trunk
experts may know any information about these types of trunks or this
trunk in particular?
It appears to be hand-made wicker and the stiching on the leather
doesn't appear to be machine stiched due to some very non-straight
lines. The leather is very heavy! The bottom runners are oak. The side
letters "LINCOLN" are on both sides. I can almost make out a few
letters on the damaged Shipping tag, I can make out:
USX (this is in big print)
The From line appears to have: New Jersy
This is about all I can make out. I have included some pictures at the
following URL: http://www.webintention.com/trunk/index.html
Thanks to all who can provide any information!!
